We were tasked with the design, supply, and installation of Allround Access scaffold to allow for masonry and other remediation work on the facade of this beautiful Vancouver heritage office building located at 402 West Pender Street. The appearance of the scaffolding was paramount to the building owners, so we installed a painted metal paneling system 14’ high across the base of the scaffold to give it a professional look while also protecting against unwanted access, along with an integrated matching door system. We installed Etro Construction logos on our Layher Protect Panels above the hoarding, and dark grey / black protection netting to match. We used heavy-duty hoarding to enable the Etro site office to be situated above the sidewalk — and to create a heavy-duty platform to support the landing of materials via HIAB. We also installed Layher Comfort Stairs for easy access to each level and the building’s roof. Final elements – installation of a 1000 lb monorail and 400 lb vertical hoist to easily transfer materials to the roof, and we weatherproofed via canopy and Layher 450mm Truss Beams.
402 West Pender is a prime example of a Vancouver heritage building. The building features brick, stone, glazed terra cotta on the exterior, and distinct detailing inside and out. It has easily become one of the most recognized heritage buildings in Vancouver.
